Celebrate Canberra – Turning 100 With Judith’s Song

It is thrilling that Judith’s lyric “Australia’s Canberra”, from ‘The Australian Cities Suite’, is published this week in an educational resource book for primary school children “Celebrate Canberra – Activities For Kid”.

It is written by two of Judith’s biggest fans in Canberra who have taught in primary schools for a combined total of 90 years.

It is a 250-page spiral bound volume covering all aspects of Canberra’s 100 year life, even covering Aboriginal history before European settlement.

Twin sisters Charmaine Savage and Felicity McWilliams love Judith’s song so much that they want children to learn it and sing along, so they have devised a delightful activity.  Two pages of the book are devoted to a “cut out” theatre and puppets to put on icy pole sticks which children can colour in and assemble themselves.

If you still haven’t heard the song, you can buy Judith’s album ‘The Australian Cities Suite’, recorded with Orchestra Victoria, at www.getmusic.com as a CD, or download the track as an MP3.  Your purchase will help worthy causes, as all royalties will benefit 400 charities supported by The Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation.

You will all love the book, whether you are actually 5 or 10 years old, or still 5 or 10 at heart, and you will be enriched and enlightened by so much of interest about the ACT (Australian Capital Territory).

Where do you buy the book?

It is available in bookshops, at all major public institutions and education institutions around Canberra.

Happy 100th birthday, Canberra!
